25th March might be called as a monumental day in the 42-year-old history of Apple as the company unveiled its video streaming platform, Apple TV+, at a star-studded event in California while calling it the new home for the world’s most creative story-tellers featuring exclusive original shows, movies, and documentaries.
CEO Tim Cook announced that this will be an ad-free subscription with everything available online as well as offline. This service will be available in about 100 countries and is supposed to come this fall. The promotional video featured interviews with Steven Spielberg, Jennifer Aniston, Ron Howard and other stars who are in the process of making shows for Apple TV+.
Spielberg said that he will be restoring the century-old marvelous stories for Apple TV+. Another Apple original “The Morning Show” was discussed by Steve Carell, Jennifer Aniston,
Peter Stern said, “We designed a new TV experience where you can pay only for the channels you want, all in one app, with the password you already have and watch everything on demand and ad-free.” The main focus of Stern was on the point that there is no more need of bouncing around from app to app as even Amazon and Hulu are going to allow their content to be watched within the Apple TV app. Although Netflix isn’t supporting this integration because well, it’s Netflix.
The other major announcements were from stars like Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard who talked about their science fiction series “See” and a new series “Little America” from the Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani.
The company even announced that customers can access other channels such as HBO, Showtime, Starz, CBS, and other services directly through the TV app and watch everything there, too.
Beginning in May, customers can subscribe to Apple TV channels and watch them in the Apple TV app, with no additional apps, accounts, and passwords required. Additionally, the new app will also include hundreds of thousands of movies available for purchase or rent in the iTunes Store.
However, Apple’s execution of starting a new video subscription service is a bit different than the recently bloomed Amazon as there is no prerequisite of having a major service like Prime before buying the subscription. So customers might find it easy to join this service and there are no barriers. Also, as iPhone sales are another important feature of the widespread among the masses as they will already feature the app.
Apple has also revealed Apple News+which will include over 300 magazines like New Yorker, Esquire, National Geographic and even the Wall Street Journal. Along with that, the company plans to launch an Apple Card credit card with the help of Goldman Sachs and MasterCard and a new games platform, Apple Arcade which will offer over 100 exclusive games from the app store.
After revolutionizing personal technology with the Macintosh in the 80s, now Apple seems to have moved their attention to the Entertainment industry while dedicating its resources to bring together all the best services in a single place.
