The trailer for James Mangold’s immensely anticipated movie, Ford v Ferrari, is out now and it has caused a stir among the fans. The film is set in the 1960’s and follows the journey of the Tony Stark of cars, Carroll Shelby as he sets out on a a seemingly impossible mission of building an iconic car that could beat the Ferrari. What a journey it must have been!

Watch the trailer below:

Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles teamed up in 1966 to build a car to beat the Ferrari that ruled the racetrack back then. And they had to literally build it from scratch, with the support of Henry Ford II and Lee Iacocca, of course. The goal was to build a Ford that could defeat Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

Back then, Ford wasn’t really that big of a threat to Ferrari. A small part of the trailer focuses on the fact that the idea, alone, of building a Ford that could potentially beat the Ferrari was practically laughable. Add on top of it a very limited period of 90 days. Practically unimaginable back then. And that’s what the story is all about- making the unimaginable happen.

Official Synopsis of the Ford v. Ferrari

Academy Award-winners Matt Damon and Christian Bale star in FORD v FERRARI, based on the remarkable true story of the visionary American car designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and the fearless British-born driver Ken Miles (Bale), who together battled corporate interference, the laws of physics, and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary race car for Ford Motor Company and take on the dominating race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.

Ford v Ferrari stars legendary actors Matt Damon (Carroll Shelby) and Christian Bale (Ken Miles) alongside Caitriona Balfe, Noah Jupe, Jon Bernthal, Tracy Letts, and Josh Lucas. Well, that’s one hell of a star cast.

Other than the extremely awesome casting, the film is a must watch for many other reasons. Firstly, this motorsport movie is a biographical drama. A rather interesting and visually stimulating one, at that. Secondly, it is Mangold’s first movie after Logan. After his applaudable work on Logan, one just cannot miss Ford v Ferrari.

Ford v Ferrari hits theaters on November 15 this year.
